The Warrior GMR Foundation helps veterans transition to civilian life by providing programs and spaces where they can connect, heal, and thrive. Through gaming, peer support, and community-building initiatives, we empower veterans to overcome isolation and reclaim their lives.
Our Summit Series is where technology, gaming, and community come together to inspire change. These events are dedicated to mental health awareness, peer support, and career development for veterans. Highlights include:
Our partnership with Harrisburg University revealed that veterans who engage with the Warrior GMR community feel a profound sense of belonging and camaraderie, which fosters hope for the future. This positive outlook is a critical predictor of improved mental and physical health, underscoring the transformative power of connection.
Founder and Chairman Josh Otero describes the mission and vision of the Warrior GMR Foundation.
This server has been more than another Discord server, I have made friends fir life and when I am struggling I know I can message someone here to get help. I know when I go into a voice channel I will always get a laugh. Thank you for having me and my quirkiness.
Warrior GMR Foundation is my safe place to vent, tell secrets about myself (not my profession) for instance I actually told someone why I have PTSD in tears, and I can TRUST again. After the world has taken everything away from me. It's better than therapy, better than treatment. Its LOVE and I can't live without it.
Joining this organization made me feel like I belong again. I served for a little over 10 years with 4 combat tours. Lost numerous battle buddies between the war and suicide. Over the years I have put my health off to the point that now I MIGHT have MS. Vets I’m telling you get what you deserve, I don’t wanna see anymore vets not get what we deserve. I am thankful for this discord. I can vent and talk to others and not get looked at a different way. Thank yall
I joined the server andI don't regret it one bit. After getting off of active duty in 2021 and going into the reserves it's been a hard change. I wasn't sure what to and I was starting to fall further down the rabbit hole of depression. One day I decided to do a podcast and listened to some of the podcasts before mine. That's when I found WGMR. I found her twitch sight and just chilled there while she streamed and one day I decided to actually speak. I don't remember what we talked about specifically, but it was one of the best decisions I made. Coming here to WGMR has assisted me with understanding that I am not alone in being stupid lost. Learning how to live life in a uniform and wearing it for the last twelve years has been great, but when you take it off and need to conform to society, fuck is that hard. It's nice to be able to have people around who understand that. While WGMR is not fully mil, everyone here is understanding and I'm truly grateful for the assistance I've received, the friends I have made, and random meme/gif wars we have. It's truly a great place to be and I am glad to be a part of it in some little way.
